International Awareness MPS Day is celebrated on May 15th
Activities all over the world are being organized to remember the International Awareness MPS Day, celebrated on May 15th.
The mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) are rare genetic diseases. One in every 25,000 people has the pathology, which triggers problems to many organs and body systems (liver, bones and joints, heart, eyes, as well as respiratory and nervous systems).
The purpose of the date is to make the population aware of the value of an early diagnostic as well as to make them conscious of the importance of the treatment of the patients considering that, although there is no cure for MPS, the disease can be kept under control.
